The Bicrement Moment
Bicrement is a programming jargon that means adding 2 to a variable (source).
The word stuck in my mind for years. Because if every effort I put in, I can increment the outcome by 2 instead of by 1, why not?
In fact, I found it to be quite true.
Last year, I started exercising and persisted for a few months. For me, doing workouts means being healthier. However, the latest health screening report did not indicate any transformation, which was quite disappointing. Afterwards, I discontinued it.
Last month, I tried to exercise again and failed to stick. Obviously, the motive of "being healthier" no longer works.
After one recent workout, I found that the workout helped me switch off my chaotic mind after a day of meetings. It became a "bicrement" moment for me. The new positive mental feedback makes exercising worthwhile again.
So, find your "bicrement" moment while doing things.
