It has been a month. I have not written a newsletter in August.

I have tried a few times on those weekends. But it isn't easy to write.

I thought I had not developed the idea well. So I swapped in a different idea.

After another week’s delay, I recognized that I was trying too hard.

Trying hard to impress an imaginary reader.

Trying hard to be spot-on and create an aha moment for this reader.

Clearly, I can’t achieve it. Those are not within my complete control.

With this realization, I let go of my mental hindrance.

Did I start writing?

Nope.

Writing is for readers. I have no reason to write when I stop focusing on the imaginary reader.

But I am writing this newsletter. How?

I am writing for the forgetful future self.

Looking back, I wrote many documents/RFC/agenda to tell myself how to do things. They are helpful to others. But, they are most valuable to me.

I am often grateful for things I wrote down and praise “the older self is smarter than I am now”. Have you experienced this?
